The selftaught brat!
Music has always been a huge part of my life. I started to play guitar in sixth grade, but it didn't work out because of my small hands so my mom got me a ukulele (big thanks to Aldrine Guerrero) that I played day and night until eight grade when I picked up the guitar again and about the same time I picked up the bass.
In eight grade I wrote my first real song called "Til Dawn" (like many other songs, this was written to a "special" girl) and it was originally written on the ukulele but the feelings was so much stronger with the guitar. Until now, my music life was really passive and I was still learning chords and simple riffs.
But it all changed in ninth grade when we got Anna (I still don't know how I can thank you enough), my one and only favourite music teacher, back. She really help me with the basics of music. This was about the time I started to play drums. I didn't have any drums at home so I had to play in school, which ment about two hours practice a week without a teacher. It was a really slow progress and I didn't learn much.
Me and Joel, my old best friend, started a band with him on bass, me on drums, Max on guitar, our classmate Markus on guitar and our friend Ellinor on vocals. But our chemistry didn't work out so I told Max and Markus about this "cool idea" of a band with every member playing every instrument and it would be called "Hybrid". They seemed to like the idea so we played a two song show in school, and I totally failed, with the old band and then decided to disband because we knew it wouldn't last.
Shortly after we got back from christmas break me, Max and Markus started the band "Hybrid" and found our forth member, Albin. This kid will amaze me forever. He did it all, guitar, bass, keyboard, you name it. But his drumming was totally insane. There he was, 15 or 16 years old, and he had the same stage presence as any big musician while he was doing stuff that was practicly unheard of to humanity.
We started practicing at Albins house with me on bass and vocals, Max on guitar and bass, Markus on guitar and Albin on drums. We started to write our own music and this was probably the point where I started to make progress. We started to record diffrent riffs that we came up with. I failed like 100 times with a three note riff that wasn't even hard to play and I'm amazed how patient the rest of the band was.
One day Markus came to us and told us about the thousands of other people who called themselves "Hybrid". We all thought about it and after a while we came up with "Hybrid Humanity". We started to look like a real band but after a while no one was practicing enough and the writing process was standing still. One day me and Albin was discussing the band and he told me that if no one wanted to play anymore there was no idea to keep the band and I thought it was horrible to lose this talent but at the same time I totally understood him.
No one talked about the band and we all was just playing on our own. But shortly after we started high school I spoke to Max and he was still interested. We spoke to Albin but he told us that he was to busy with other music arrangement. We started to write some songs and soon after we started we released a demo of the song "The Royal Letter".
I joined my fathers band "Flying Cows" as bassist and the guys in the band taught me a lot about when to give more power and when to hold back. Soon after joining I started to really practice on my vocals to get it as clean as possible. I also started to write a lot of texts. Unfortunately I have a bad habit to always write about sad things.
By the time I convinced my father that we should buy drums and we found a cheap digital drumkit. I played about an hour a day and started making progress on my drumming. Thanks to Albin and Henrik for all the tips. Still working on trying to get that original feeling on the drums.
In the summer of 2010 I bought my first electric guitar: An Epiphone SG Gothic. It really forced me to really start to learn guitar and just days after I got it I was rocking out Master Of Puppets.
Now here we are. So close to our first record ever.
